Re: SNES PCB type database

I think the last column in the serial code merely denotes a chip that interacts with the RAM chip (which the RTC does). Maybe not ideal, but I like the idea of following Nintendo's labelling scheme when possible. I could change the main list page to put it on the "special chip" column, tho...

Re: SNES PCB type database

The http://snescentral.com/pcblisting.php does look much better now, with the chipset info added to the board names. One thing is missing are the RTC cips... For SHVC-LJ3R-01 add special chip S-RTC. For SHVC-LDH3C-01 add special chip SPC7110 + RTC-5413. Why are the ST010..ST018 board listed with &q...

Re: SNES PCB type database

Ok, I made an update and added nine new boards. Perhaps the most interesting one is this one: http://snescentral.com/pcbboards.php?chip=SHVC-1A3B-SP1 I guess the French version of Link to the Past needed a patch applied to it? The only other -SP1 board was Mortal Kombat, which had a patch that fixed...

Re: SNES PCB type database

For completeness, would you be able to also take a picture of the back?

I will hopefully do an update this weekend.

Re: SNES PCB type database

http://snescentral.com/pcbboards.php?chip=SHVC-1A8F-01 this one seems to have incorrect information. It lists SRAM and RTC. It just looks like it was form data and these fields weren't deleted? same goes for this one http://snescentral.com/pcbboards.php?chip=SHVC-1A9F-01 There is likely an error in...

Re: Why preserve video games?

"Why preserve video games?" I mean, this is a difficult question to answer. For me, the answer is, because I personally think it is important. I do what I do because I find it interesting. It is great if other people like what I do, but I have to say that my reasons are selfish. It is inhe...

Re: SNES PCB type database

Generally speaking, I like to have a raw high resolution scan (i.e. 300 DPI), then I resize it to 700 pixels wide for the website.

SNES PCB type database

Over the past few months, I have been working on making the SNES PCB type listing that is on SNES Central more comprehensive. Today, I uploaded the first major update . I currently have 170 PCB boards documented. I have tried to make the list in order of function. On the pages, I tried to include th...

Yes, but he is not going to do it for prototypes, which is what I am interested in.

SNES cart chip database

For some time, I have wanted to make my site, SNES Central, more comprehensive, like bootgod's site for the NES. I've taken the first step, and started up a database of chips used on SNES carts. http://snescentral.com/chiplisting.php Now, I do not claim to be an expert on the technical details of th...

Re: Super FX Assembler

Luigiblood wrote a linker, so in theory you should be able to write Super FX programs with this. Confirmed to work with legit Star Fox 2 source code.

SNES hardware test program archive

Since tukuyomi's SNES emulation archive recently went offline, I decided to archive the test programs that were stored there: http://snescentral.com/homebrew.php Of course, I am an archiver, not a SNES hardware expert, so if anyone can fill in the gaps in terms of what some of these tests do, I woul...

Re: SNES PCB archive

A good hypothesis.

BTW, I have completed adding all of byuu's scans, so every US game has a corresponding PCB scan on SNES Central. I've made a submissions guideline page, if people have a variant that is not on the site.

Re: SNES PCB archive

Whoops, I had edited my post and linked off my local website. It should be fixed. I'm pretty sure that the format is different than the Hitachi chip format that is listed on that site. Someone else pointed out that "0128" could be a month/day format, but I found another chip that invalidat...

Re: SNES PCB archive

I'm getting close to finishing adding PCB scans for every US SNES game. I have a bit of a headscratcher with this one: http://snescentral.com/0/6/7/0679/SNS-XP-0-pcb-front-94xx.jpg The above game has a Ricoh RP538000G MASKROM chip on it, but I am unfamiliar with the format they used for the date cod...
