Genesis repros don't work (Red Screen)
I tried to do a Mega Man Wily Wars repro by using a College Football's National Championship donor cartridge. I downloaded a Mega Man Wily Wars .md ROM, used GQ USB Programmer for the Byte Swap, saved the .bin file separately and wrote it onto a 27C160 EPROM. I also used the tool FixCheckSum before ...

Re: Change language of original Final Fantasy III cartridge
Since the PCB is a HVC-TNROM with Mapper 4, I can simply use the standard wiring as for NES PCBs, right?
PRG socket:
Bend up pins 1, 2, 24, 30 and 31 (or cut tracks 2, 24, 30 and 31)
Solder pin 2 to hole 24 (A16)
Solder pin 24 to GND (OE)
Solder pin 30 to hole 1 (A17)
Solder pin 31 to hole 2 (A18)

Change language of original Final Fantasy III cartridge
Hey there, I was wondering if it would be possible to simply take an original FF3 (NES) famicom cartridge and replace the MaskRoms with EPROMs that contain the game in English language. Has anyone any experience with it? I noticed that the CHR has only 28 pins and is CHR-RAM - so can I simply leave ...

About the durability of EPROMs...
Hey there, so I've read a lot of times on the internet that EPROMs aren't very durable as they lose their data over time/are likely to suffer "data rot". I kept reading that these EPROMs are supposed to last roughly 10 years. So my question - how true is this? Has anyone any experience wit...

Re: Creating repros of Famicom games (case: Splatterhouse)
@tokumaru: With regards to option 2: Do you know if this works in terms of space in the cartridge, e.g. when I use a normal 3-screw NES cartridge? Or does the screw in the middle prevent adapter + famicom game to fit properly?

Re: Genesis repro with 40 pin eproms
I bought one of these adapters for my minipro and it works great! The design is open source so you can even have them manufactured yourself if you'd like. Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately it's not sold any longer and I haven't found any other stuff on eBay.. I don't know if I'm actually capable to...

Creating repros of Famicom games (case: Splatterhouse)
Hey there, is there any guide on how to create repros for US/European NES consoles from games such as Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti? Looking at the NES Databse, it uses a NAMCOT-340 chip, which is only used by a few famicom games from Japan. How does one make a repro for that? Are there any guideli...

Genesis repro with 40 pin eproms
Hey there, I want to make a Genesis repro of Contra Hard Corps, but I only have a MiniPro EPROM programmer at hand, which means I can only program 40pin EPROMs and not 42 pin EPROMs. Is there any way to create repro of a 16Mbit Genesis game by connecting two 8Mbit EPROMs with each other, similar to ...

Re: Problem with Snow Brothers Repro
So I now soldered Pin30 on both CHR and PRG to GND and it works. Great, thanks!
Just to make sure that I know where I did wrong: For the 27C2001 I should have created 256kb files in famiRom, correct? Since I only had 128kb files, the EPROMs weren't read properly. Right?

Re: Problem with Snow Brothers Repro
A17 on 27C2001 would be Pin 1 for both CHR and PRG, is that right?

Re: Problem with Snow Brothers Repro
Hey there, thanks for the replies. I haven't tried Holy Diver Batman yet. Does it check if the board in general is ok? I definitely used both a PAL-B version of Racket Attack and the PAL Rom-Version of Snow Brothers. Even though there is PAL-A and PAL-B, I only have found ROMs that are PAL in genera...

Problem with Snow Brothers Repro
Hey guys, I'm having trouble with a Snow Brothers repro I'm working on (PAL-B). I'm fairly new to repros, so far I've only done two for the SNES (Sunset Riders and Battletoads & Double Dragon), this is my first NES one. I used the following wiring guide: PRG socket: Bend up pins 1, 2, 24, 30 and...
