Is anyone aware of any differences in video circuitry between the US front-loader and the AV Famicom? The picture my Fami puts out is a hell of a lot sharper and cleaner than any of my front-loaders. I'll have to try and get some decent pictures...

Interestingly enough, I always got the code screen to appear (at least with CV3) by starting the game, and then quickly power-cycling.

I've always believed that if you have the hardware, you might as well use it to its full potential. Some people get up in arms whenever NES emulator expansions/enhancements are mentioned, but as this is an actual NES cart that runs on actual NES hardware, what's the problem? :)

Re: R.C. Pro Am finally works!

I think I'll try this same technique on Castlevania 1, though I take heed to an earlier post that it may simply be a version that has a bug in the software itself. Don't bother; no amount of cleaning is going to fix your Castlevania cart. I've experienced the same crash on my PRG0 cart a couple of ...

Japanese versions are always greater than the USA ones... fact. :) Super Mario Bros. 2/Super Mario USA would like to have a word with you. It's better than both the game it was based on (Doki Doki Panic) and the game it was substituted for (SMB2J)! (sorry, I just have a really soft spot for this ga...

5 sprites, one 15 bit background tile, no VRAM... original 2600 developers had to be heros.
Don't forget the 128 bytes of RAM!

(And I thought 2K was tiny...)

koitsu, I think Mudlord made a GME-based Winamp plugin at some point. Yes, and it sounds great...but you have to change tracks via the file information dialog, which isn't updated when you load a new file (you have to close and re-open it, which gets tedious REALLY fast). There seem to be very few ...

"ACM" was just a marketing term (like Blast Processing) used to hype the game's extensive use of pre-rendered 3D graphics, something which was relatively new to console games. None of the three DKC games used any special mapper hardware or anything.

The Game Genie doesn't even pass the extra pins through; there are just empty slots in the cart connector where the pins should be. I'm guessing the PAR is the same way.

I seem to recall a fictional computer system was created for a programming book or something, and people made "emulators" for it...can't remember any other details, though.

Why don't you just hack the cartridge version? It's exactly the same, aside from the graphics.

EDIT : Oh and there is also plenty of SNES RPGs where 'A' is okay and 'B' is cancel, but then Playstaion RPG have X for okay and O for cancel, which is exactly the other way arround and it's really annoying. And to make things even more confusing, Japanese PSPs and their games use O for okay and X ...

You are better off using the PocketNES emulator for the GBA, if you want a portable NES. Or NesterJ for the PSP, which has a full GUI and a crapload of features (hardware scaling is pretty sweet). Unfortunately, the emulation accuracy floats somewhere between NESticle and FCEU at times, especially ...

Re: Anyone test an FC Mobile with a PowerPak?

It's too bad that (as I understand it) these famiclone makers tend to have no customer service in North America, Western Europe, or the Australia area. Otherwise you could complain that Lode Runner doesn't work right, as it depends on A being on the right. So does Section Z. B fires to the left, A ...
