I got a Nintendo brand NES AC adapter today, and when using it, there is no hum in the audio. The PowerPak works perfectly, and I love the fact that I don't need to move the PowerPak cartridge in order to remove/insert the CF card.

PowerPak audio hum

I got my PowerPak several weeks ago, but only got around to trying it out today. Everything works great except for one thing. There is a loud humming noise in the audio, even when there are no game sounds playing, e.g., when Super Mario Bros is paused. The game sound effects and music are perfect, b...

Re: Retrozone

Did you get insured shipping? Next time, get insured shipping with a tracking number. I have been trying to contact the guy who runs RetroZone for the past 3 months. I ordered stuff from him 3 months ago which was never received. After being as nice as possible and numerous attempts to contact him I...

Many people find the old school graphic style a strange goal for a modern game, but it reminds me of similar techniques used in the movie industry, where modern movies are filmed in black and white... or filmed using some other technique to make them look more old fashion. Similarly, why use oil pai...

Does Mega Man 9 run on a NES emulator?

Does Mega Man 9 run on a NES emulator, or is it just designed to look like it is a NES game?

Apparently they sold out in 4 days. I really wish RetroZone would accept pre-pay.

Jonathan Scobbie's SNES Romulator

Does anybody know details regarding Jonathan Scobbie's SNES romulator? Apparently he went through the trouble of creating custom circuit boards for a portable SNES project of his. http://www.mash-mods.com/products/Mash-Mods%20Prototypes/portablesnes One of the circuit boards allows loading SNES ROMs...

An update on the Neo Flash cart for the NES and Famicom:

Hopefully the NES Powerpak has another production run, because I'd rather see it become the defacto standard flash cart for NES systems.

Hyperkin FC Mobile (portable NES clone)

I bought a Hyperkin FC mobile off of Ebay . It plays NES games without an adapter, and it uses 3x AA batteries. It works pretty well, and it is fairly well built for a famiclone. Considering that there is no portable NES built using real Nintendo ICs, I am willing to put up with the inaccuracies of ...

It looked to me like it was plugged into a prototype of the Neo NES, which in turn was plugged into a Famiclone (the round indentation and standard AV cables suggest it's a PSOne lookalike without the lid). I think that is the best description of the picture in the link. From my understanding, the ...

Re: Linux

These times I have been thinking about the better known alternative to Windows, that is especially popular among harcore informaticians. Does anyone here have it ? Has anyone had a (good or bad) experience (trying) switching from Windows to Linux ? Is a Linux platform more or less suitable for home...
