Roniu's Tale

Post by vnsbr »

Hi guys, happy to announce a game I have been working with 2 more friends from kunjee studios.

Description
Roniu's Tale is a puzzle game with action elements. For the player to advance he has to collect the key and leave the dungeon.

We have a lot of the levels worked out, 8 worlds have been made each one if its own ambiance. We are aiming for at least 9 worlds with 5 levels each.
There is still some work to do on bosses, cut scenes, etc but I think we are progressing quite nicely :)

Hope to have a demo ROM available soon. We also want to make some carts and probably a kickstarter campaign.
But first we want to finish as much as possible before asking for money.

History
Roniu was not satisfied with his life.
Bored of doing the same thing everyday he sees a light behind the wall of his city. Being
curious he jumps over the wall ending up teleported to a magic dungeon where he meets a
ghost called Ousia.
Ousia explains that she has been there for a long time and died while trying to get out of the
dungeon, then explains that in order for Roniu to get out of there he needs to collect all the
Orbs scattered on the levels so that in the end he can make a wish...
Ousia believes that with the help of Roniu she will also be able to get out of that magical
dungeon.

Nice! I'm using CC65 as well, and thinking of moving to UNROM (from NROM) on my next project! Looking forward to seeing how this pans out.

I love it - very much in the same vein as Fire 'n Ice or Adventures of Lolo. I can't wait to give it a whirl!

Nice I started with NROM then CNROM and for now sticking with UNROM!
I would love to fiddle with other mappers though in the future but I have to say UNROM is pretty solid for what i have been needing.

It kinda closer to modern programming (more close but still far distant :P) once you get an asset flow going.

thanks! Diogo Bazante is our musician and Rafael Barradas the designer deserve all the praise :D
Your LZSS compressor is great!

Cool didn't know that game :)
I know Little Nemo served as inspiration for some of the musics. But im sure Rafael is inspired by games like this and Kick Cubicle, etc and with our own twists.

looks really good. im assuming that the goal is to get rid of all the tiles in each level since you can apparently only walk on a single tile once?

You have to get the key to unlock the door, also you will need all orbs(there are 24 orbs) to unlock the final dungeon. It will be more clear once we have more videos of the gameplay:D

Ooh, this has a cute artstyle!

Gameplay-wise, it looks a lot like the MS-DOS game "Freakin Funky Fuzzballs", yes that's it's real name.

Surprisingly, this game was developed by Sir-Tech, of all companies!
