You're stuck in a room in an infested bunker during a zombie apocalypse. Out of food and water, you have no option but to try to escape. With no weapons or training, it's hard to tell if leaving is a good choice.

This is a short demo of the engine I've been working on over the last few months.
I've been struggling to come up with some fun mechanic or story, and procrastinating on stuff like dialog tree compiler or other weird stuff. In the last week I patched up the code and made a very short story, so I can at least ship something Maybe one day I'll team up with a designer so I can do coding and follow existing solid mechanics instead of gluing weird stuff together. Heh
Hope you enjoy it.

Re: Untitled (yet) action adventure game
The room looks nice, but those 1-pixel legs and hands are really annoying.
Re: Untitled (yet) action adventure game
The film roll style looks superb... was that done intentionally... or are that brick stones?
Re: Untitled (yet) action adventure game
Haha, no. I didn't realize it looks like film, even though I do shot film and have 4 more rolls to develop It supposed to look be internals of the wall.
I'm not really an artist. This is probably the best graphics I ever pulled off, I'm going to add any animations even, and just let character move like in roguelike games.
As of 1 pixel arms, I don't like bubble head characters, and wanted something with more realistic proportions. If this game turns out to be something fun, I'll have to commission actual artist.
Re: Untitled (yet) action adventure game
If you can't draw and don't need many frames, just pick something off opengameart with a compatible license. There's plenty of 8-bit art there, even public domain.

Re: Untitled (yet) action adventure game
Looks nice. I think the style of the character conflicts with the style of the background a little bit, but each on their own would work.
I do also like how the character stands out from the background. Are you going to highlight people/objects in this way or was it just a coincidence?

That's a coincidence so far... We'll see.never-obsolete wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 9:34 am I do also like how the character stands out from the background. Are you going to highlight people/objects in this way or was it just a coincidence?
As of a project update. I finished compiler for a selected syntax of the Twine to author dialogs in the game. Here's the demo.
