Do you miss any NES-related software on Windows?
I need a new hobby coding-project.. I'm curious, do you guys miss any specific kind of software for Windows that's NES-related? ROM-hacking related? Something else?
I need inspiration here on a new project..

Does it have to be windows? There is lots of existing windows stuff that could be ported to Mac.

Yes I’m on Windows myself so.. I’d love some coding ideas..
Re: Do you miss any NES-related software on Windows?
How about adding VT03 support in Mesen or FCEUx?
Re: Do you miss any NES-related software on Windows?
I was more thinking of a stand-alone tool of some sort..

Perhaps a program that lets you convert PNGs to both tilesets and tilemaps.
Similar to SuperFamiconv, but for NES.

You could make a desktop/offline version of NEScartdb. I know you said windows but that would also be a really cool offline phone app. So many times I was at thrift shops and I see NES carts but the website is down and I can’t check it. This is something that can work very well offline and not depend on internet.

I second a PNG2CHR or SuperFamiconv type of program for NES. I use NES Screen Tool for this but it must be done manually and it only supports BMP.
A command-line tool that can be integrated in a BAT file in the build chain and without dependencies would be great.

Mine probably runs on Windows with a few minutes' porting.

How about a new hex editor and disassembler for NES and FDS that also supports both CDL formats for both FCEUX and Mesen-X, supports displaying/exporting NES Stripe Image and Plain Nametables, along with displaying/exporting CHR-ROM/FDS CHR type files
Maybe allowing for generation of Reassemblable code for CA65 and/or ASM6 should be great!
Supported mappers I want: NROM,MMC1,UxROM,CxROM,MMC3/6,AxROM,BxROM,maybe more mappers in future
A hybrid disassembler wouldn't be THAT bad, won't it?

I do not want to use NSA disassembler for ROM hacking, It is illegal!!!

See what I said above, it should be under licensing or documentation... I.E. The permission that NSA gave for the use does not allow ROM hacking (illegal activities under Nintendo's guidelines, which I generally doubt. but NSA can be trouble!!!).
