Over five million SNES Classic Minis sold . . .
5.28 million to be precise.
The most popular of all the Mini systems to date by far (to the tune of millions), even more popular than the NES Mini (the second most popular Mini console), and more than enough to warrant other Mini systems from Nintendo imo.
So, what Mini would you like to see Nintendo release next, and what games would you like to be included?
Me, I'm thinking I might actually like to see a Game Boy Mini. I have a feeling that could sell even more units than the SNES Mini.

For just mini systems in general, A Sega Saturn mini would be pretty nice to see, but that's probably a bit too demanding for the cheap boards they use in these mini systems. A Dreamcast mini would also be neat if they also restored online services for some of the games.
For Nintendo only, N64 would be nice, but it's probably in the same boat as the Saturn.

SNES Classic Mini has amazing games on it. It's no wonder it's selling so well.

I think even only the means to play a legitimate release of StarFox II legally is enough to justify its sales.
Compared to the other "mini" systems, while they do have new games they're not as appealing.
Mega Drive Mini has Darius, but this game is obscure to some gamers and it doesn't offer much new stuff if you already own the PCE version of Super Darius.
For PCE Mini, it has the Near Arcade Conversions, which are just old games hacked to fix some of their problems and make them more faithful to the original arcade version, and the obscurity of the system in the western world didn't help, either.
Re: Over five million SNES Classic Minis sold . . .
Some Sega person, when asked about a 32x mini, said they don't have a good emulator for that, and if they did, they'd release a Saturn mini (same cpu arch). Nintendo has commented they're not planning any more minis.
DC and N64 controllers are too large, significantly higher shipping and storage costs. A GB mini would be viable, but Nintendo would rather have you get the monthly subscription, way more profit.

It does. I still hacked mine to add even more SNES games, and a whole bunch of Genesis, PC Engine, NES, Master System, GB/GBC/GBA and MAME games, but totally agree. I also bought a couple of controller cord extension cables, and I added in a wee hack to allow quickly returning to the Home menu without having to go over and press the reset button on the console, because Nintendo was a plonker on that one. Overall though, it's actually been the system I've most enjoyed in literally decades, alongside my Rift CV1.

Actually a good idea.Jedi QuestMaster wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 6:47 amThe Virtual Boy. I mean, with the advent of VR...iNCEPTIONAL wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:47 pmSo, what Mini would you like to see Nintendo release next
I did try a bunch of Virtual Boy games on both my Rift CV1 and Quest 2, and I can confirm that it would be a really cool way to experience them again in modern times. The Wario game is actually really good. And Teleroboxer, or whatever it's called, would be very cool in VR if they simply remapped the buttons properly to modern controllers.
You can get an idea of what it's like in this video (although it honestly doesn't convey how cool it is in the actual headset): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nme6wZV8W1Q

I'd really like to see them make a Pokémon Mini mini, just to see what they'd actually call itiNCEPTIONAL wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:47 pm So, what Mini would you like to see Nintendo release next, and what games would you like to be included?
I think some fans got excited last year because Nintendo of Europe updated some webpages that mentioned the Pokémon Mini, and they took it as a sign of some kind of imminent Pokémon Mini revival. It was a fascinating piece of hardware, but realistically I'd expect see it as part of their Switch Online service or some other digital offering instead of something physical like the NES/SNES Classic Minis. Even more realistically, I'd expect them to continue ignoring the Pokémon Mini after all these years.

I agree, this is what sold me to it and the fact that you got two SFC-style Classic Controllers that you could use with your Wii. Normally I'm not so interested in these emulator-based mini clones full of games I mostly already own in cartridge form, but I thought this one looked nice beside my collection.
Taito Egret II is similarly interesting just for its neat paddle and trackball controllers and the mini cabinet with a rotatable monitor is also way cool. It's a bit too expensive though and you can get a professional arcade trackball and paddle for less money.
If they made a Game Boy mini they would probably have to add link cable support for it to make sense, especially if they include games like Pokemon or the Zelda Oracle games. I suppose they could make it possible to transfer monsters to the newer games like what is possible with Virtual Console versions.
Virtual Boy mini is indeed a very good idea. It would need stereoscopic 3D to make sense of course.
What about Color TV-Game mini?

Can do what? The SFC, SNES and NES mini all use controller ports compatible with the Wii Classic Controller, and the included controllers should work on a Wii in place for the CC. I think on the NES mini you only got one controller (despite the real NES always being sold with 2), but the SFC mini that I got came with 2 controllers.
They say that the Famicom mini should work too but the controllers are hardwired like on the real Famicom so a modification is needed.
Of course none of them have all the buttons and analogue joysticks of a normal Wii CC, and the second Famicom controller is missing START, SELECT and still has no microphone.
