You don't even really need the nullCIC - you can just apply the "two wires" mod even without the CIC populated at all.

I suppose two-wire-mod is some variation of this one.

On an original motherboard, the two-wire mod is less invasive: viewtopic.php?p=209346#p209346

On a brand new OpenTendo board, my variation requires fewer parts.

Was this ever disassembled though?

I guess one reason for a correctly working open-source CIC is for testing cartridges with Avrciczz or other cloned CIC chips on.

actually the avr cic krikz only exists for one reason. N8 business motive :roll: 8-)

Yes and it was necessary because the previous CIC reverse-engineering work, which resulted in the Powerpak's Ciclone, was made closed source.
