N64 Pokémon console

Post by Markfrizb »

When I power on the console, the red lights under Pikachu cheeks blink about 16 times, then stay on. No screen activity, no signs of life other than the blinking lights.
Tried multiple known good power supplies.
Any insights?

Edit: apparently the blinking lights is normal…. So now it’s just a dead console. 😔

Clean the connectors (game and expansion pak), look inside if anything looks wrong.

Thanks for the tips. I swapped the expansion pak with a known good one. Stripped it down and inspected the caps (they all look good) tested the 5v regulator (why is a 5v regulator on it? - it takes the 12v and regulates it down to 5), got good 5v. Everything is clean. It just quit working! Nuts. It’s a revision 9 motherboard if that means anything.
