Desired Possible Inventions
Any invention you’d like to see made?
And, from my title: toothpaste ISN’T possible to invent bc it’s already invented
Furthermore, be aware that shared ideas aren’t owned by anyone. Feel free to share desired inventions you can’t/have-no-desire-to create. I don’t want someone to lose a patient bc they shared an idea in this thread.

A laser that detects and "shoots" at mosquitoes. Or any kind of actually efficient mosquito killer. Something that kills mosquitoes. Preferably make them suffer and tell their family members about it.

My current setup:
Super Famicom ("2/1/3" SNS-CPU-GPM-02) → SCART → OSSC → StarTech USB3HDCAP → AmaRecTV 3.10

It's now 12 years later and this is still not a product people can buy...

Re: Desired Possible Inventions
As a guy who hates body hair, I've always wanted an easy way to get rid of it, then a few years ago I found out about at-home laser/IPL devices. So my wish came true.
Edit: Maybe this thing could kill mosquitoes? I once had an ant crawl on my arm and accidentally zapped it, but I'm not sure what killed it: the pulse light heat or being crushed.

Re: Desired Possible Inventions
Bottles for carbonated soda drinks which reduce in size while content is poured out to prevent decarbonization while keeping it closed in fridge.
Re: Desired Possible Inventions
Oh, I'm sure that the laser itself is not a problem... tracking the mosquitoes in a big room while avoiding other living things such people, pets and plants is probably the hard part.
That's a cool one... Maybe something like a big syringe?

Isn't that quite painful?Jedi QuestMaster wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:15 pm As a guy who hates body hair, I've always wanted an easy way to get rid of it, then a few years ago I found out about at-home laser/IPL devices. So my wish came true.

I once had a discussion with my uncle about this. What causes the decarbonization the most? Contact with unsaturated air or is it the loss of pressure or is it both? If it's just the pressure then a cap with a manual air pump could work.

Probably pressure; after all there's quite a bit of pressure in a unopened can or bottle, and it only goes flat after opening.
Besides, my solution to this problem is to only buy cans. Not that I drink much soft drinks for that matter.

It's the so-called "partial pressure" of carbon dioxide above. You can't just pressurize the bottle with normal air, because for whatever reason the ability of CO2 to come out of solution depends exclusively how much CO2 is in the gas pocket above.
Re: Desired Possible Inventions
Hah! Exactly what I thought. The air saturation with the gas. I'll let my uncle now that he's lost this round.lidnariq wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:25 am It's the so-called "partial pressure" of carbon dioxide above. Re: Desired Possible Inventions
Yep, it's interesting counterintuitive thing about carbonized drinks. First of all: after normal opening of bottle pressure inside soda are the same as the pressure in the air. Otherwise soda will expand/boil and so on. CO2 inside water is somewhat 'binded, liquified' form with normal pressure. So if we close bottle pressure under cap will be almost normal at any time. However if we create 'gasification centers' with shaking or contact with surface of mentos candies liquified CO2 will expand to gas with intensive boiling. It's not about pressure of liquidied CO2 in soda, but about pressure of expanding CO2 gas. So, if we keep liquified CO2 intact - pressure in closed bottle will be almost normal and there is no reason to think about pressure as cause of decarbonation. It's really all about partial pressure and redistribution of CO2 between soda and empty space with air in closed bottle.

"SNESmaker"
Not a physical object, just a tool, but one that I'd love to see personally, as I think it would be great for the broader SNES homebrew/indie community.
And, yes, pretty much exactly as you might imagine it.
