Custom graphics generator

Post by FloResolution »

I'd like to propose an idea:

A program that takes an image your upload and compresses it to certain hardware restraints, or to make pixel art with said constraints. I know Dithertron does this already, but my idea is too have something more customary.

Like sort of making your own "graphics" the way you want. Instead of just settling with a preset. Now I do think it could have like NES, SMS, C64 presets, etc. However the main point would be to have an option to make your own.

Things such as:
Making your own custom palette (up to 512 colors maybe); amount of subpalettes; tile size; BPP or general colors per tiles; colors per horizontal line of pixels ("scanline"); RGB presets (levels & bits) for posterizing;

Custom resolution; total colors for the entire screen or image; option for "sprites" (probably highlighting a portion of the image) to separate from the BG plane, or as an extra layer for drawing (Although you can draw on the BG tile plane as well).

I'm not too well versed when it comes to programming. But I use programs like Dithertron, which is why I have this idea. Photopea does have posterization, scaling and color reduction, but nothing like bpp or anything. GIMP has what Photopea plus allowing for custom palettes but that's it. Maybe it's a bit too ambitious though.
