There are two boards that I am aware of, so far, in Famicom Jump carts:
- One labeled JUMP which has a BANIDAI 88 FCG-2 with a single 32 pin PRG ROM and a single 28 pin CHR ROM.
- One labeled JUMP A which has a BANIDAI 88 FCG-2 with two 28 pin PRG ROM (labeled PRG-1 and PRG-2 respectively), a singled 28 pin CHR ROM, and HD74HC130P.
Generally it seems that it is standard NES pinout, but I am not getting the game to boot. Here is what I have tried and observed:
- Using a 29F010 to 28 pin DIP adapter for the CHR
- With that CHR in the board and using the original PRG, it does boot but the logo screen is scrambled (to a degree, it was expected)
- I have tried PRG as standard NES pinout for 32 pin PRG, Flash (39SF040), standard pinout for 32 pin CHR, and even a adapter for EWROM boards and none have worked so far
- While checking the pinout of the mapper and the PRG, I observed two, what I believe to be, anomalies
- Pin 2 of the PRG ROM on the JUMP board is tied to GND. Normally it seems to be tied to PRG /CE on other mappers (FCG-2 does not seem to have a PRG /CE)
- Pin 22 of the PRG ROM on the JUMP is tied to /ROMSEL. Normally it seems to be tied to PRG /CE on other mappers
Hoping someone might have some insight into what may be going wrong with the PRG ROM. I am guessing something with Pins 2 and 22, but I could not find anything that made sense to me, so far.
Maybe I can use the JUMP A board, split the PRG in half and use three of the 29F010 to 28 pin adapters?? I can try that, but would really like to see if I can make the JUMP board work.
