- The switching produces noise that may show up in the video or audio output, or even make its own audible sound.
- Complicated design with more components, therefore it breaks easier and harder to fix it.
- Potentially more expensive.
- Famicom less warm to the touch, and smell; definitely feels less alive with less dust odor and plastic phthalates releasing into the air. It smells like when you are testing old Christmas tree lights, finding the bad bulb, before LED takes all of that away from us.
- No functional advantage.
- Electric bill was unaffected.
- Not nostalgic.

Switching regulators are more efficient and don’t need a heat sink. But I always advocate against them for NES/Famicom. Here are some disadvantages:

all installed i found most of the buzz coming from the 0.33uf 50v cap in the p2 controller all is working great. as for the switching regulator all fine
