NES-SKROM Enabling battery backup feature

Good day :)

Lately I've been immersed in NES cartridge repro's...
a lot of information around...!!

Now, I have this question:

As I've seen, NES-SKROM pcb's are capable of holding a battery and keep saved game data...
I'd like to enable this feature in one of these boards.

Do you, experts know anything about the capacitor and diodes?
I don't have a clue about the types - how to look for them or how to buy them...

Taking a magnified look at the capacitor I can see that capacitor is 22uF, 6.3V...Is this Correct?
But what about the diodes?

Thank you very much for your help.

You can use a 1N4148 diode, those are very common.

Excellent, thanks for your response.

Yes, I found another source of info that stated about 1N4148...and they even mentioned 1N914.

What about the capacitor? Is there one of that specific type? 22uF 6.3 V?

The 22uF 6.3V capacitor would be an electrolytic type. Since it's polarized just be sure to connect it the right way, the exact value isn't too important. Using a higher voltage rated one is fine, as is a somewhat higher capacitance, 33uF 100V for example, as long as the pins fit the board.
