N163 mixing question

Post by arfy »

So, after playing around with the latest NSFPlay, I've discovered one of these 1-channel n163 songs that Rainwarrior mentioned on the nsfplay 2.3 thread. Let's just say the n163 absolutely overpowers everything else in the song. If you play the same thing in famitracker, however, it sounds fine. But, I'm thinking this is just one of the things that the n163 rewrite has "fixed". That is, as you increase the number of channels on the n163, the overall volume gets lower? That would make sense, especially with serial mixing going on. Will famitracker itself implement the latest emulation improvements that rainwarrior's been working on?

That question will probably get a faster response on FamiTracker's forum.

I speak to jsr fairly frequently on forums/IRC, and he's generally aware of the research I've done. I can't speak for him, or whether he'll want to make the volume change, but if you post in the Famitracker bug report forum, he should get the message: http://famitracker.com/forum/threads.php?id=2
