LifeForce PPU bug after killing any boss

Anybody seen this before? It looks like the same tiles are repeated the whole way down the screen. Happens immediately after beating a boss.

It appears to only be a PPU issue, as the game will continue on like normal after a few seconds. Presumably after the death explosion animation (which is the part that messes up).

Looking around in FCEUX debugger, it looks like the background tile rendering is disabled or something.

nevermind, I found it. Was a bug when background rendering was disabled.
