I am wondering what are the differences in the similar filenames, are they the same game (different versions) or what?
what the trailing characters in file name mean?

"b" and "o" ROMs are basically useless. "T" ROMs are fan translations to different languages.

In most cases, yes. But a ROM hack that expands a game needs to be applied to a specific (o) ROM. In a case like this, the instructions that come with the patch file also explain how to construct this (o) image from a verified (!) dump, so you don't need to go around hunting for (o) if you have a dump from your own Game Pak whose CRC matches that of the (!).
