for no apparent reason whatsoever.

I had no idea that people would corrupt games and throw footage on Youtube 12 years ago when I made my Rom Corruptor tool.

I didn't either... until I saw the similar videos to the right.

This was kinda a one time thing, but if I decide to do more, I'll check out your program.

This isn't exactly a hack, but still in the same vein: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G88uCBm8rC8

A good friend of mine does this kind of thing all the time -- he streams his glitching sessions on twitch.tv, but also takes screenshots of amusing results. I have a partial archive here. He either uses a NES emulator that sticks random values into RAM or ROM parts, or uses a ROM corruption tool. If you need/want names of the tools/emulators he's using I can ask him.

Within certain niches of the Internet this is referred to as "glitching" (i.e. glitch videos).

Well, I used ROM corruption in order to find tables, usually for levels and objects placement. With MegaManVI, I could figure out the entire game in a few minutes. Later, I already had a level editor for it. ;)

But I'd like to distinguish "glitching" from outright game-breaking "corruption." Here' an example (though it does have some corruption in it):

Looks more like half finished PPU emulation.
