Easier said than done, depending on where you live. I did get a Famicom AV a few months ago, but it ended up costing me almost US$200 because of shipping and taxes.
Now I'm looking at a RAM adapter, but before I get one: loopy, are you really planning on selling these? How much do you think they're gonna go for?
...and I just bought a RAM adapter on ebay. Impulsive? Maybe. Guess I'll have to trust loopy and hope this purchase wasn't be in vain!
Since this thing will probably be coming from Japan by ship (which I expect will take 3 months or so), I wouldn't be surprised if loopy was already selling his little device before my RAM adapter even gets here!
Will this software be made available for Windows, OS X, and X11/Linux? Or will users of OS X and X11/Linux* have to install VirtualBox and buy a copy of Windows?
* If you dislike this term and have a better term for "Linux with a GUI that is not Android", let me know.
Looks pretty awesome. I also bought an FDS RAM cartridge in anticipation, they're cheaper than I expected.
About cases, it's not as ideal a solution as your custom one, but one thing I've been considering using with some of my projects are boxes by Bud Industries or Hammond, with end panels. Like these. It would be really cheap to replace those panels with laser-cut plexiglass of the right thickness.
I'm getting some test cases printed from Shapeways for about $7 each. Cheaper than I expected. I may go that route for now, make it an optional add-on cost.
