INL 12MB Snes boards not writing?

Ordered some 12MB INL Hi/Lo boards and a Kazoo. I First programed Star Ocean 12MB deinterleaved version but it wouldn't boot. It erased fine and appeared to program fine but nothing on the Snes.

Now this is where it gets fudged up. In my haste to get this working I plugged the INL cart back in to the kazoo but it was in backwards. Tried to erase it and saw smoke come off the dev cart to which I quickly unplugged the USB. That board wont erase now and is considered toast. Other 12MB boards will erase and appear to program fine though. I also flashed the kazoo firmware and was able to dump a NES cart just fine. Also worth noting is that when I try to read back a programmed 12MB board back on the retro-prog application it's all blank. This is being done on Windows 8.1 as well.

Advice, ridicule, and possible lulz are all welcome.

If you are lucky the board you put in backwards can be repaired.

I'm hoping that will be possible MottZilla but at this point just getting a board to program would be nice. I'm guessing windows 8.1 x64 isn't the issue here and others have gotten it to work on this os.. I wonder what else it could be.

Tested some more today and actually got a 4MB Hirom to write to one of these and booted fine. I used the Retroprog 11.5 software this time with it's special firmware. I still can not get Star Ocean to boot on one of these though. For reference the link below is the Xdelta patch that I found on Nintendoage that others have said should work. What am I doing wrong here?

You need to de-interlace and apply the expanded patch to the Star Ocean over the De-Jap translation for the 12mb. You may need to solder on a replacement power regulator, if you killed it.
