Trying to find the name of an old computer game

I'm posting this here in case anyone can help me find the game that I'm about to describe because I want to play it again.

In the early 90's my family had a computer, but it wasn't a new computer it was an older one. I believe the games were on old floppy disks, maybe even the old bigger ones.

I remember playing this game where at the start of the game you had like 4 screen pages of items to buy and a bunch of gold or money to buy stuff. The stuff was like swords, armor and so on. When you finally got the game started you appeared as a small person walking in a dungeon like area with enemies kind of like an overhead view like in Zelda 1 nes.

I remember buying lots of armor and stuff, but then when I started playing my character only took like 5 steps and then a message popped up saying that I was tired and had to rest before moving again. I recall one time sitting there for like 30 mins waiting for my character to "rest up" before getting to move him again and then I only took like 2 more steps and he got tired again and stopped.

I then started playing the game with no armor and then could move very fast around the rooms. I have no idea what the name of this game was because I played it so long ago. The graphics were very primitive like atari 2600 or nes style.

Anybody have a clue to what game this is? Thanks!

Do you remember whether it was DOS, Windows, or Mac?

Random guesses: Nahlakh, Castle of the Winds, Excelsior, any of the MoraffWare games, the Ultizurk series...

Nahlakh seems close, but i dont think thats it.

The computer was probably set up with DOS because it 100% didnt have windows on it or a graphical interface. you just put in the floppy and typed in some command prompt and the game loaded.

Probably older than Nahlakh, then. Smooth colors (VGA 256 color)? Garishly colored? (EGA 16 color) Or relatively monochrome (CGA 3 color)?

There were a set of shareware EGA RPGs I remember playing but will have to dig around to find the name...

There needs to be an entire website solely devoted to helping people identify things by a description alone...

At the risk of suggesting something obvious and making myself look stupid, since I never successfully played 'em, it wasn't one of the Ultima games was it?

Stack Exchange is that web site for movies, TV, and SF literature, but not for video games. Perhaps you could try "You Know That Show" on All The Tropes or TV Tropes.

Castle of the Winds? I don't remember if you got tired or not though...

This is random, but just today, I found out a game I played a long time ago on an old computer was called Hover!. On the same computer, it had Lemmings which I didn't know the name of for the longest time. It was an old computer at a daycare I went to when I went to when I was about 4 or something. I don't know why I felt like sharing that

That the computer is still there, working and with its stuff intact is kind of an interesting sight.

Do you think there's anything worth recovering from there? (hey, you never know, I found some obscure program from 1987 by examining some old floppies :v)

Yeah, this was the daycare: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shining- ... 8831126210 (I used to live in Virginia, and my father still does and I visit him during the summer like I am now.)

I'm 99% certain that it was either a Windows 95 or 98 computer, which in 2003-2004, wasn't too incredibly old. There's actually still a Windows 98 Packard Bell computer in my basement.

Unless you're counting some random computer with Hover! and a Windows 95 version of Lemmings, I doubt it. It's probably all been thrown out by now anyway.

That it hasn't been cleaned up of files or reformatted or whatever for over 10 years (and wasn't just put in a corner to collect dust without ever being used again), on the other hand...

I meant from that computer =P

I think the probability of the Shining Stars Daycare Center computer having anything rare on it is about as high as the one in my basement. It's not like I have access to the inside of the building, nor am I going to convince anyone to drive me to randomly go ask if they still own an old computer.

If you're really that interested about a random computer in a daycare center, you know where it is... (If they hadn't thrown it out anyway.)
