How to pad/double SNES roms correctly.
Hello all, I'm using INL's programmer and boards, and I'm having issues writing to the 8 meg boards. I believe this is because I've been using Lunar Expander and it must not be handling the padding correctly for this file size. I'll flash the roms and I'll just get a black screen on my SNES. What is the correct method? I know literally nothing. Thanks in advance!
Re: How to pad/double SNES roms correctly.
In what position is the switch on your cart? What size of ROM are you using, and what is its mapping mode?
- $20/$30: LoROM (up to 4 MB or 32 Mbit)
- $21/$31: HiROM (up to 4 MB or 32 Mbit)
- $25/$35: ExHiROM (5, 6, or 8 MB, or 40, 48, or 64 Mbit)

1) When flashing I have it in LoRom because my current understanding is in this positon it will auto map. If I were to flasha HiRom game to it, I'd flip the switch to HiRom when I plug it into my SNES for play.tepples wrote:In what position is the switch on your cart? 2) I am now out of 4mb boards until my next order, so various sizes. I was initially trying with some 6 meg games like Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes. Now I'm also trying with 1-4 meg games etc.
3) I don't know anything about mapping modes etc right now. It looks like you're referencing hex values there. I have not looked at any roms in a hex editor, is that what you use to pad them?
4) I will get back to you on the Holy Striker Batman rom later tonight (I hope). I'm linking this thread to someone I know experiencing the same issues so maybe he can provide a result faster than I can.
Thanks so much!
EDIT: Oh yeah, can someone explain to me why INL SNES boards don't work on a Retron 5? Is that the nature of the board or is there something I can do to fix it? His NES boards work fine.

This is with the 64Mbit LoRom
