How could I turn water under the bridge into a video game? Oh yeah, everyone drops sticks off the upstream side of the bridge and they see which one reaches the other side first. But first I'd need some way to depict differential surface current rates across the river. Would offset per column in mode 2 be good for this? Or is something simpler sufficient?

(In before NovaSquirrel: The late Terry Pratchett made the obvious pun in Thud!.)

You could always turn the river 90 degrees and use HDMA instead.

Sure, Let's all play a little game of Turd races on the SNES... That will make everyone happy!
