Complete game lists at Nintendo's official site

Post by DRW »

I've found these two lists:
www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/nes_games.pdf
www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/snes_games.pdf

Does anybody know what other lists they have on their server?
I don't know the page from where they are linked, I've only found the PDF files themselves.

I'd like to see a list of Game Boy games, but I don't know where to find it or if it even exists.
gb_games.pdf, gameboy_games.pdf or game_boy_games.pdf don't work as a name.

Game Boy has always been "DMG" internally to Nintendo…(look at the product codes) and this is borne out by it being dmg_games.pdf. cgb_games.pdf works. (Do not appear to be ones for DS (NDS) nor Wii (RVL) at this location; the title "completeoldgameslist.xls" suggests a more complete one from which they're generated.)

Similarly, the Game Boy Color is not GBC, but CGB, so cgb_games.pdf.

Thanks for the information.

Now, if there was a way to fetch the "completeoldgameslist.xls" file, that would be great. But I assume the PDF files aren't generated on demand, but were created once, so the XLS file might not be on the server at all.

People use GBC to talk about the game boy color, despite the official three letter code being CGB. Likewise, people still talk about the PSX and aren't talking about the DVR.

And people use "NDS" despite that the code name was NTR and the official abbreviation was DS. In any case, ntr_games.pdf is 404 as well. Nintendo must not consider the DS "old" because it still makes systems compatible with its games (the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 2DS, and New Nintendo 3DS).

While we're at complete lists: Is there a website like www.nesguide.com and www.snesguide.com for the Game Boy? I'm especially interested in seeing the package cover of each game.

How complete are these official lists anyway? I didn't count the number of games, but the lists look smaller than I expected.

Might have to do with the fact that it's just the American licensed games and not everything that you find at BootGod or in GoodNES.

By the way, here's where those PDFs are linked from: Older Games List (Nintendo Customer Service).

Be aware that the complete list PDF has some problems. For each system in the complete list PDF, game titles number 3 and 4 are replaced with "the Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Original Game Boy," and "Super NES, NES, and Virtual Boy.", and game titles 5, 8, and 11 are blank. Also, Virtual Boy isn't in the complete list PDF.
