Unpopulated Gyromite PCB

I've only heard of this one other time, recently infact, see John Riggs on youtube. Anyway I just picked up a copy of Gyromite with nothing on the PCB at all. Did this happen often ? For some reason the weird part to me is the fact it's an NROM-128 not a 256 board??

steven78 said he had a copy like that out of an early retail display that included other nonfunctional pieces.

The label says GYROMITE but there's no ROM. I call false advertising :P

It also says GyroMITE but a swarm of mites didn't jump out. This sort of comedy is endless...

It says gyrOMITe so they left out the ROMs.

I don't see any GYROmite sandwiches involved either. No wonder Nintendo recalled this game and was never heard from again.
