People aren't going to help unless someone explains what this post is even about in the first place. Questions:

1. What does "Stripe Image" refer to, both technically as well as console model (ex. Famicom vs. NES vs. FDS)?
2. What does "Nintendo's format" refer to?

Stripe Image is someone's name for a VRAM update list format used in several NES games.

We seek these for two reasons:
  • This data format somehow seems to be missing from Data Crystal, the ROM hacking wiki. At least its page about Super Mario Bros. data formats didn't mention it until today.
  • Retrotainment Games is giving back to the NESdev community by allowing me to release a library of several low-level pieces of the game I'm working on that aren't specific to our game engine or assets. One of its three formats for the VRAM transfer buffer is Stripe Image.

The actual name of Stripe Image refers to SMW Central's naming of the format, of which was given to first mention these types of compressed nametable images in Super Mario World.
