So while doing a recap on my PAL (Edit: top-loading) front-loading NES, I accidentally knocked off and killed a tiny, unidentified SMD component from within the AV/RF/power box:



There were two of those in my PAL Alps AV/RF/power box, but no extensive testing of the intact one with a multimeter lead to any sensible hint on what this part could be. What I think I can say for sure is that it's neither a cap nor a resistor. And if it was a diode, I wonder why it doesn't have a cathode-marking ring on either side.

Looks like MicroMELF form factor, given the size... that's a cylinder, right?

There aren't many options for a 2-lead component, really.

Seriously, could it possibly be an inductor?

Don't think I've ever seen an SMD inductor where it's all three of:
1- a cylinder
2- the axis of revolution of said cylinder is mounted horizontally
3- and you can't see the wire

Ferrite beads are rarely in that form factor, but I've never seen a red one.

Did you try measuring across the intact one on the diode setting on the multimeter?

Yes, meter read 0.6 V on either polarity which I found was odd. (BTW, the components in your pic are all capacitors not diodes. )

What made you lead to this conclusion?

@Bregalad Ceramic caps all were the usual brownish-color, and resistors had common color codes on them, unlike the component I need help identifying. Please refrain from insulting my intelligence by asking silly meta-discussion type of questions while not providing any help and/or benefit to this thread. Thanks!
