Hidden generic NES emulator in Animal Crossing

Apparently, the NES emulator in Animal Crossing for Game Cube can run arbitrary ROMs on the same memory card as your town in addition to just the built-in games. Article about it here.

I was able to play Nova the Squirrel on it perfectly fine, though I'm not sure I like Nintendo's NES palette choice that much. I'd be curious to see what emulator tests the built-in emulator passes or fails.

In my opinion this is a lot cooler than just replacing a game, because the game of your choice is actually in your town. Not in a hacked copy of Animal Crossing, in your town, legitimately playable.
