Nes Homebrew database project
*beep boop* Hey all!
I'm creating a distribution network for NES homebrew that focuses on freely licensed software. The idea is to make a platform that can be easily integrated into emulators or even real NES hardware, so that you can browse and download games with an "App Store" type of experience. I want to make it easier to download homebrew software legally than go to sketchy ROM sites to download games illegally. I also love homebrew games, so we want to give the authors the proper credit they deserve. We take attribution and licensing seriously. We will only publish software that has an explicitly stated license, such as any Creative Commons license, always include information about the author(s) and - when possible - links back to their own website where people can learn more more about their work.
This is a non-profit, volunteer project and I make no money from it.

If you have any questions or want to submit your software, please be in contact I'll help you any way I can.
Best

Re: Nes Homebrew database project
A while back, the user retrobrews was collecting roms for a similar setup.
Re: Nes Homebrew database project
That's really cool, thanks for sharing! It's very similar but still a bit different. Retrobrews doesn't seem to require explicit licensing information (just permission from author to distribute) andcalima wrote:A while back, the user retrobrews was collecting roms for a similar setup.

I was just coming to post that. Combining your efforts would be better than competing with each other: https://retrobrews.itch.io/

Indeed! I just tweeted RetroBrews https://twitter.com/antonrissanen/statu ... 6721955841M_Tee wrote:I was just coming to post that. Combining your efforts would be better than competing with each other: https://retrobrews.itch.io/
I'd be glad to collaborate
Re: Nes Homebrew database project
Some updates:
- All JSNES-compatible games can now be played right in the browser
- sha-1 checksums added to ROM detail page so identifying the ROM version is a bit easier
- Kubo & NESert Golfing added to the catalogue
- Show how many players the game supports

This is such a cool idea. Did it die? Only see a few games in the DB.
