2019 competition?

Post by drludos »

Hi!

As I don't see a post launching the 2019 edition of the NESdev competition, I'm wondering: will it happen in 2019? Or is the event cancelled this year?

I really hope it will take place this year too! :)

It's happening. Feel free to make a game. Same rules. I'm not making a game.

Wonderful, thanks for the info!

I'd try to make something then :)
And I'd follow your tutorials (already started), as it'll be my first NES work!

I had hoped to have my game done by the end of the year, but I think that's increasingly unlikely as that gets closer and closer. I'm torn on whether to submit whatever I do get done, or to wait until it's completely finished before revealing it to the world.

Check out Brick Breaker aka Brix Battle from the 2016 competition: https://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php ... 11&start=0

While I still like my game it's something that was supposed to be much more (and with design mistakes that would have probably been fixed given more time), I kick myself every time about rushing its release. Don't be afraid of NOT releasing your game if you feel it isn't up to what you wanted to actually do with it, released game forever bad etc. etc.

Thanks, that's good advice.

I believe it's Jan 31/Feb 1, but I've bugged Brad to get confirmation.

I initially was thinking we would keep it the same, but how would everyone feel about pushing it forward another month?

As I'm learning how the NES works with my entry, an extra month to make it happen would obviously be appreciated ;)!

I feel like it wouldn't be a competition without a Mojon entry :)
