Tapeworm Disco Puzzle

Hi guys I'm prity new on here. Kickstreter launches on 16th of December
I ran a Kickstarter earlier this year for my NESmaker game Flea. Its just started to arrive in the hands of backers an they all seem to be enjoying it.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fl ... =user_menu

PLAY THE NEW DEMO HERE:
https://lowtekgames.itch.io/tapeworm-di ... nfXX1hWEy0

But this thread is for another project and its not made in NESmaker.
Its a puzzle game spin off from Flea called Tapeworm Puzzle Disco.

The Audio producer from Flea "Tui" introduced me to Valdir on twitter and we started prototyping something.
Tui will be returning to make some more bangin tunes.

The game is a mix between snake and Lolo

Each level has an objective like:
-Avoid enemies
-Don't kill the fleas
-Collect all the notes
-Help the fleas collect the blood
-Help Fleada get to the gig on time (fleada is a cat walk model)

The worm has a set length so you have to manage your moves carefully while avoiding enemies.
You can undo / wind the worm back into the tape to step back and try another rute.
Still early days were working on getting a prototype together for a new kickstarter.

Here's the currant box art

Demo coming soon.

Here's a mock up of what I'm thinking for the title screen, not in game yet but think its achievable.

Heres an old gif of some game play

And heres a mock for the level transitions, think were just gona go up and down rather than side to side.

Flea is out there now and people seem realy happy with it. the Dreamcast community is also very welcoming to anyone who was wondering. loads of press attention from them and its selling well.

We are planning a kickstarter soon, gathering all the parts together and figuring out pricing now.
What you guys think?

Im trying to flash a build to an INL unrom mapper 2 board using the "inl retro programmer dumper v2. on" its the one thats just got nes on it , was sold through a NESmaker link.
Worekd great for flashing my carts using the "flashcart.bat" in the "Flasher\INL-retro-progdump_map30\host" folder of nesmaker but it dosnt do anything that isnt mapper 30.

I did some looking around and the software seems to be pointing me to this git page. I download it and cant realy figure out what bit im supposed to be looking at.

Hi Alastair,
I have a lot of respect for what you're doing, and I'm not good at constructive criticism - so I hope you don't take this the wrong way.
I'm sure you already have plans for something far greater than what I'm talking about (like song changing after a few levels in), but I thought I would share my feelings just in-case:
The in-game music sounds more like it would work good for titlescreen music, and can get a bit blah/irritating after playing with it playing after a while. I came to this conclusion after several different attempts/games.

Of course, I'll still support your project regardless how you end up doing it!

Ye there are plans for more music just didint want to spend too much on the demo, the music is a rework of the tapeworm levels from flea. hopefully the tapeworm will have a range of different geners of music clubs from blues and jazz to rock teckno and disco. Were also thinking of bosses and other game modes. We also didint even touch cutscenes in the demo. We will hopefully build a loose narrative that builds through the game.

Okay I played in browser demo.

I've always found it strange when you control the NES controller with the D-pad typically in the left hand and button in the right hand but in a browser based game its reversed so that right hand is D-pad and left hand does the buttons.

Anyway, its a fun game with lots of potential. Took just a min to figure out. My only suggestions are to make the worm recoil really fast with a button. Like the Z button in the browser makes him recoil but only 1 segment at a time. It should be if you hold down the button he recoils really fast or make one of the other buttons recoil all the way or something.

But yeah, when you hold down the button the worm needs to recoil rapidly.

Alastair,
That sounds awesome, really looking forward to to this one :)
p.s. regarding Erockbrox's suggestion for a faster retract, do you think that's a good idea? Have you ever played the arcade game (in fbneo or mame..) "Susume! Mile Smile / Go Go! Mile Smile"; it has a fast retract, but kinda different game mechanic. I'm trying to envision if that can be helpful for your game.. I duno, what do you think?
