Get some denatured alcohol and soak it for an hour, the label will peel off very easily.

I 've only used plain water + a not-so-sharp knife, which worked surprisingly well. Just give the case a long hot bath and the label should be quite easy to peel off.

And oh yeah, at one time I was dumb enough to have some soap in the water, which made the case quite ugly. So be sure to clean your sink before you start bathing the cart case.

Home Depot, or most any hardware store will have denatured alcohol.

Goof Off!

Rub some on, let it soak in for about a minute, and then the labels peel off.

I've had goof off melt some plastics, so be careful.
(it melted the plastic on a C64 that i tried to remove a label on)

Wow.. so far I've used it on NES systems and games with no problems. I apply a bit to a paper towel at first, and rub it on.

Yep goo gone does the job. Since NES labels are slightly laminated, it may take a couple minutes longer, but the stuff works. Just have a towel on hand to wipe up the excess when it's done.

i tried the denatured alcohol and it works awesome. at first i thought it discolored the cart, but after it dried, it went back to the original color.

the method i use is... bathtub first... to get the laminant peel-offable - then i use goo gone to get the glue off - it works pretty well... and if you have a girlfriend you could make her take a bath in a tub full of nes cart shells ;)
