I consider nesdev forum to be one of the most valuable place in the world, grouping brilliant people. And because December has just arrived so starting from now I am going to give away surprises, every week, on Friday's night.
In the last weeks I was quite busy on preparing this one for you.
From around 2016 I have been analzying many cartridges, consoles, accessories, either for fun, or as a side effect when fixing them. Most of the data is scattered somewhere on the forums, wikipedia or was not published at all.
A few members asked me to publish the data, so I decided to make a user-friendly cartridge database with all the photos, schematic, my notes. And - what's most important - a powerful search engine, that you can use to browse the cartridges by various criteria.
If you have totally unknown board in your hands, you can try to search similar existing one either by some text marks (if there are any) or.. by chips, for example trying to find a board with MMC3 + PAL16L8 chip.
Any commensts, suggestions - feel free to write.
The assigned mapper numbers probably mostly does not match the ones on the wiki, because when I was analyzing them, it was much faster to implement new mapper in FCEUX source code basing on the pcb connections and then assign them some high (unused) mapper numbre for testing.
If you know that some cartridge has already well-known maper number, you can write it in the comment below this cartridge.
Have fun!

Re: Cartridge database
Thanks for putting this out there. Having this centralized and searchable in this form is very useful. I look forward to making my insomnia worse as I browse this late at night.
You don't happen to have CRC data to go along with all of these? That would be EXTREMELY helpful in linking dumps to known boards.

Re: Cartridge database
Yes, I have already ROM dumps linked to most of the cartridges (at least those that I had in my hands). I will add "showing crc" and "downloading IPS patch to apply for original rom to get the dump" soon.kmg wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 2:58 pm Thanks for putting this out there. Re: Cartridge database
I already made a first comment ^^
It has to do with the page below :
http://krzysiobal.com/carts/?action=view&id=378
The PCB marks on this one should definetely not be "NONE". Instead it should be "S6IN1" (as written on the top right corner of the board).
I own an exactly similar cart - strangely enough it is a "4 in 1" multi cart - but it shares the same PCB.
I can provide you more photos if necessary.
I this comment is not relecvant feel free to remove it.
Thank you once again for the amazing encylcopedic work you've done
Keep up the good work
[EDIT]
For what it's worth I am uploading the photos here

Thank you so much for this resource! I have nothing to add so far except to express my admiration for the excavation that has been done. I know how important it is to support these kinds of projects even with a kind word. I will follow the development of the project with great interest
