As the title stated, I'm looking for some information around an artist who was active in the early 2000's NES music scene. The artist's folder from the old NSF archive I had is just labeled "pod_dob" and most of their tunes were from around 2003-2006 if I remember correctly.
I stumbled upon his NSF files way back around 2009 or so and since then it's been some of my favorite NES music. No idea who this person was or if the music was written for a game or something but I've always wanted to know more.
I haven't had any luck searching online (also not sure where most independent NES music is archived these days) but figured this forum may have someone with some insight about this person's music.
Hoping for a hail mary lol. When I have some time tomorrow I'll see if I still have the pod_dob folder on an old hard drive so I can reference some track titles and more info.

I am not familiar, but I found “Pob Dod”, is this what you meant?
Here are what appear to be 3 mirrors of the NSF files:
http://ftp.modland.com/pub/modules/Nint ... Pob%20Dod/
https://modland.antarctica.no/pub/modul ... Pob%20Dod/
https://www.mmnt.net/db/0/0/ftp.rave.ca ... /Pob%20Dod
Each of these NSF files has the name “Mike Willmot” embedded, is that helpful?

Thank you Ben! That helps a ton actually. It seems the folder I have may be mislabeled either that or maybe this artist just sometimes used an alt variation? Some of the files I have are labeled as "pod_dod" but others are "pob_dob" for some reason with the main folder being labeled dob. Granted this is from a copy of the NSF archive from like 15 years ago.
None of my files include this person's name so at least that's a new lead! Much appreciated

Hey there, as someone who's a collector of nsf music do you mind sharing this folder with me? I don't know quite where chiptune music and so on is archived these days, but I do an archive on my Open Directory for all kinds of chiptune and tracker music. https://chiparchive.com/files/

Sorry I'm just now seeing this. I'll PM you as my personal archive is fairly large. I also have a lot of modules for other systems, PC's, etc. that might not be in your archive!juan reina wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 3:33 pm Hey there, as someone who's a collector of nsf music do you mind sharing this folder with me? Found this topic googling Pob Dod / Mike Willmot. I discovered Pob Dod while listening huge NSF music archive in 2017 and was very impressed.
I am kind of musician myself and I can say that Pob Dod is very interesting not only for his mastery on NES MMC chip, but also for his music skills. His melodies are truly have some idea behind; they are progressive, have interesting key and chords. My favorite is "Under the Sea", "Dungeon" and "A cave". I even thinking about cover them on real instruments.
So yes, question of who he is, whether he is still alive, and are there any more of his work is relevant. There is 10 persons named Mike Willmot on LinkedIn, but it seems you can't just write someone on LinkedIn without special account
