Lately, I’ve been getting frequent timeouts and “SSL handshake failed” errors when trying to load the site. I’ve also noticed a “verifying you are human” page showing up regularly now.
Is anyone else running into this?
Is something up with NESdev site?

Re: Is something up with NESdev site?
I see—so this is likely going to be an ongoing issue, then. That’s not ideal.
Edit: Just curious—any idea who's behind the DDoS attacks or their motive? Could it just be spam sites trying to drive clicks, or do you think it might be a targeted attack because it’s a Nintendo site? I noticed there’s been a noticeable uptick in hostility toward Nintendo lately, especially its older consoles and their fans, so I’d hate to think the site is being targeted simply for supporting NES and SNES development. Obviously, no motive justifies it, but I’m hoping it’s just random bots trying to exploit the site rather than some anti-Nintendo agenda. I was recently made aware of a popular SNES YouTuber whose channel was apparently shut down by a coordinated group from Brazil right before they hit 1,000 subscribers and monetization—just for being outspokenly pro-Nintendo. That’s why I’m a bit suspicious about NESdev suddenly getting flooded with hundreds of thousands of anonymous hits.
Anyway, hopefully things get resolved soon and everything returns to normal.

A new scourge of the internet is AI crawling bots. Bots which crawl the internet for text content to use to feed their AI training.

This can be blamed on the AI uprising being ignored by the government (similar to how the UFOs being ignored by government back when, look at where it lead us now),
This fact applies to Google Gem-and-eye/Amazon Ahlecksha/MicR0$NaRt's B1M80z+Xk0k+CoPiLeOfSh***!!!

Maybe I'm missing something here, but where exactly has that lead us?Hamtaro126 wrote: Mon May 26, 2025 1:28 am(similar to how the UFOs being ignored by government back when, look at where it lead us now)

An internet-wide problem doesn't have to hinge on the US government, you know.

Well it's the sort of thing that develops too fast for older rule systems to keep up.
I thought governments were hiding UFOs not ignoring them.

I think people watch too many movies. If there is something that poses an actual danger or terrorizes people, something should be done. In our case, it affects the hosting of the site that is being so graciously provided to us; something should be done.
Regardless, it exists and I rather be able to see it than force it into a closet where it can fester into something worse.
