Has anyone used something like this? They're available for the Famicom, SNES, and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis (I don't know if they're for other consoles).

I have two supposedly identical ones for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and interestingly, it won't fit in the console :D Someone designed something wrong.

Another interesting thing is that they're supposedly identical, but one has a visible flicker and the other doesn't:
