Nestopia, problem with Alt-key

Post by Jole »

Hi!
It's my first time posting here. I downloaded Nestopia v1.40 (windows) a week ago and i have an issue with my Alt key. I'm trying to change my save state mappings from shift+1, shift+2 etc. to Alt+1, Alt+2 etc. but everytime i release Alt (while not pressing anything else) the emulator pauses, so i think it interferes with some kind of "pause the emu" input-key. However i didn't find a solution for it in the settings so i thought I'll ask for help here. It's not a big issue, but i would like to unbind the Alt key from stopping the emulator.

Any help is welcomed! Thanks :)

The Alt key isn't directly pausing the emulator - it's opening the window menu (as it does in virtually all Windows applications), and opening the menu is what's pausing emulation. Whether there's a way to disable this behavior, I don't know, but if the menu is open then any arrow key input is going to start navigating through those menus and performing actions, so you might just want to avoid using that key.

Perhaps you know this but Nestopia is very outdated and inaccurate compared modern emulators like Mesen, puNES and Nintendulator/NRS. Nestopia UE (Undead Edition) is a modern branch that seems popular though.

Just saying.
