Yep I agree, that's why I originally mentioned the bank position should be stored rather than the diode config. The diodes along with the latches on D4/5 seem to only used for disabling the bus conflicts to allow proper reading from the CHR ROM. For emulation purposes, I don't think it should be necessary to handle D4/5 at all.
