Rewritable Cartridge

Post by Mindiell »

Hi all,

I can't find any info on how to make a flashable cartridge. I would like something like a normal cartridge but with which I could plug an USB cable (parallel maybe ?) and read or write the rom.

I just want that to use my developments on my real NES...

Making such a cart looks like an awfully complicated task for a single person, specially if this person has to *ask* about how to do it. =)

Seriously, the PowerPak is probably the best choice. Even if you were able to connect a cart to your PC via USB (which is a pretty complicated task, or so I heard), you'd still have to deal with the different mappers, unless you wanted to develop for a single mapper, forever, but that seems like a very dull feature for a devcart.

Also, if you had only one mapper, you wouldn't even be able to play many commercial games, except for the ones using the same mapper as your devcart, so it would be strictly for dev'ing alright.

However, mappers still seem to be a problem with the PowerPak, because complicated mappers such as the MMC3 do not seem to behave the same as the real thing.

Thanks a lot !

PowerPak seems to be exactly the thing I was looking for... But it's a little too expensive for me right now. :?

Do you know if there is some second hand PowerPack no more used by their owner :?:

The thing is just out right now, so there is no hope that way for now (unless someone is really crazy).
