Help with Nerdtracker II

Post by reflexes »

Hi everybody,

I'm rather fresh to this kinda thing, but have always been interested in creating chiptunes. I just never realized there was such a community and that it was possible in the way that it is - anyways, I'm giving a shot at it now and really want to try my best to understand what I'm doing. I am still getting the hang of the program, but would really appreciate it if somebody with experience could kind of help me out over AIM or email with any questions that I'd have (there are many) - they usually aren't covered in the FAQ, and I'm pretty sure the learning curve would drastically shrink if I had a friend helping me along the way :)

Thanks again,

Danny

Hi,

Have you checked out 2a03.org? The forum is less active lately, but is centered around NES music. Also, 8bc.org. The forums there are very active and there is a newbie help section as well.

I only mention those sites because they are centered more around chiptune music, not just overall NES development.

Good luck!

reflexes: Are you familiar with the use of "tracker" style composing software such as Modplug Tracker?

Yes, I have checked these sites out. I've searched the newbie forums on most of the more popular 8bit sites (like 2a03 and 8bc), but haven't really been able to find the in-depth step by step explanation I need.

And no, this is my first time using any tracker. I feel like I could definitely do this though, just need someone to help me start the engine.

Thanks again for your quick responses, I appreciate it.

First get Modplug Tracker, and go through the tutorials to make a .s3m file and then a .xm file. Once you have managed this, you should be able to figure out FamiTracker.
