NES Repair/mods

Post by ludditesoft »

Hi,

I'm going to attempt a repair of an NES toaster. the device that lowers the cart is disabled. When you try to push down the inserted cart it won't stay down. Is there a tutorial online to repair this issue? Also since I'm prying it open it might be fun to make mods to it, just for fun. Any good mods out there that anyone knows of?

My second issue is I have a NES 2 I'm making an AV mod for. I was able to get some of the correct parts at Radio Shack but the 1.3k ohm was not in stock. I did buy a 1.5, will this work ok or will it be hazerdous to my NES 2? Also in the way of transistors the tutorial I'm using (http://web.archive.org/web/200706300048 ... 2avmod.htm) says: NPN transistor (2SC1317 or similar like the 2N4401) I have the 2n4401. Will this do? Thanks in advance!

Sometimes if the 4 screws that hold that part down are too tight or too loose, it won't work. Chances are, they just need to be adjusted. Pretty easy job, really.

Remove that part and see if it still works externally. Once you get a look at the mechanism of how it locks down and pops back up, you should be able to tell if it is still in working condition. I've never actually seen one of these failed before.

Yeah, if someone attempted to replace the 72 pin connector but didnt hook the plastic piece back under the PCB, then that piece wont stay down after re-assembling the unit.

I accidentally did that to a system I'd given to my sister.
