so i tried putting this on a cart:

it boots up fine, but when i go to play the first room, the screen goes black and nothing happens. i tried it on the power pak and it worked fine. what could be wrong?

Did the MMC1 cartridge you put it on have WRAM? Ex: Zelda. Maybe it requires it. There are a few MMC1 board types. You can see them here: http://www.nesdevwiki.org/index.php/SxROM

Maybe you need SKROM. You do if you need WRAM/PRGRAM for the game. SKROM is the only MMC1 board that has the RAM and also supports a 128kb chrrom which your game appears to use.

ok, that would make sense. i just used a normal SLROM board (SLROM-05). Ill try it on a SKROM board then, see if it works. thanks for the help.

By the way, I didn't mean to suggest Zelda as suitable. Zelda 1 is SNROM and uses CHRRAM.

Zelda 2 is SKROM as it has the RAM and has 128k PRG and 128k CHRROM. The MMC1 repro board at www.retrousb.com may work too, but I'm not sure.
