Famitracker vs Nerdtracker & other

Post by mjshikeli »

I'm starting a huge project i urgently need help in the following matters
Which of this programs is best for a nintendo sounding tune? Do i need to learn Nerdtracker if I know how to use famitracker 100%. I mean, does nerdtracker have bigger possibilities?

I need a emulator to create the music like from the games: Dune 1, Ishar 1,2,3, Ultimaunderworld 2. Is this the same sound system? And how is it called. Many Thanks. for help

I find that both are kind of a shindig to figure out. From what I know, Famitracker currently doesn't support multi-tune NSF files, so if you're wanting to make one that has many tracks, which I assume you do, you'd probably want to go with Nerd Tracker. I do find that Famitracker is more user friendly, but NT2 isn't bad. You should probably learn NT2. It's not very complicated, and its NSF builder supports multiple tracks.

I seem to recall you getting on my case, as well as tokumaru's about posting nothing but our opinions and no technical information. What is this? There isn't any information related to the topic in this post. Perhaps you should've had this as a side note on a post that was actually informative.

What does "multi-tune" mean?

There was a word "urgent" on my post i have deleted it because "Blargg" suggested it.

More than one song in one .nsf file.

Nerdtracker is kinda buggy, but I guess it's still a nice way to quickly get a sound engine working for any project. Personally I like coding my own sound handlers.
I haven't tried famitracker, so I can't tell. It's probably not that hard to add features like multi-song or sound effects using hackish tricks.

Okay, this may sound dumb, but how do you implement multiple songs using NT2? I didn't know you could do that.

Here's where I asked the same question:

That should hold some answers for you.

Awesome! A little trickier than I thought, but I guess that's what you can expect from NT2.

Famitracker has multiple tracks as well. Just go to Menu>Module>Module Properties, and choose the number of tracks you want.

Then you can just pick your track under the oscilloscope type thing, and then just make another song.
