29FO40 Flash Rewire.

Post by nineTENdo »

hello,

im trying to rewire my 29f040 Flash chip to work on a NROM board. ive rewired only my 5 volts (pin 32) and just left the pin 1,2, 31 unused. but i found this site. http://nintendoallstars.w.interia.pl/romlab/nesmod.htm and found i need to do more rewiring. should i go with this guide and do the necessary rewiring.

ps. for future reference im looking to buy the 6264 SRAM for battery backup. which version will i need. 90ns or 120 ns?

thanks,
el

Yes, you can use 29C256, but it (and other Atmel chips) require different programming algorithms than most other Flash, so check your programmer for support.

Why do you want to make a NROM cart with 4M ROM? You do realize that 93% and 98% of the ROMs respectively will be wasted?

If you're going to make your own board, design your own mapper to make use of the ROM or at least put switches to allow multiple games to be stored.

on the demo im working on somethings work in nintendulator and other things work in fce ultra. i want to just take out all the kinks in realtime on a nintendo. 294040 is all i got right now and rather do quick a mod while i wait a week for the parts to get here. im rewiring a 32 DIP so when it gets here ill just pop it out and fit the new chip in

also i want to try and get any burning problems out of the way before it gets here. ive heard different people with different problems that they encounter on the williem programmer.

plus as long as i works i dont matter to me if waste space as long as i dont encounter any problems with wasting space.
