What type of 40 pin IC socket comes with CopyNES USB?

Does anyone know the type of socket that retroUsb includes in their copyNES USB kits?

I've been working on installing copyNES. Because I am new to desoldering, I ruined the 2A03 on the NES I was modding. I also accidentally broke the IC socket that came in the copyNES kit ><

So I ordered a replacement 2A03 here:
http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl (search "2A03").

And then I bought a standard 40-pin socket at Rat Shack.
I soldered the new socket onto the NES motherboard and then plugged in my new 2A03. I popped in Monster Party and it worked perfectly!

Next I removed the 2A03 from the NES and moved it to the copyNES board. I then pushed the copyNES board into the socket of the NES motherboard. I pushed really hard, literally until I drew blood on my thumb.
The copyNES did not fit into the socket. It does not fit into the socket.

Apparently I need to get the EXACT socket that came with the copyNES. That or solder each pin of the CopyNES-NES connector by hand. I'm not too interested in that second method. It's bit cludgey and I hesitate even as a last resort.

Well it's kinda weird.....cause if the cpu fits It seems like it should fit copynes to. (not 100% sure though, don't hold me reliable for that statement) sure you solderd it nice and flat?

Totally flat. I think the socket that comes with copyNES is specialized. That not 100% statement is almost definitely (and unfortunately) not true.

I bought some strip sockets to try and fix the problem with:

My plan is to attach the strip sockets to the male end on the copyNEs board, and then bend the pins to fit on the NES board.

Well that's what the original copynes used.....So i'm pretty sure you don't have to bend them. :-D

Yeah..that would make sense.

-But- the strip sockets that have input ends do not fit the male pins on the bottom of copyNES either x_x At least the ones I got. Bummer.

I did have some mild success with another socket - it turns out that some sockets available at radio shack WILL fit. I tested on some broken sockets I have and blam! It fit. The ones without the metal insets on the top of the socket DO NOT seem to work. No insets seems ok...So I just have to hit some component stores this weekend and buy a bunch of em and keep try! KEEP TRY!

Thanks for your replies.

So Jeroen was right and I was very wrong...CopyNES is compatible with a standard socket. It's just a REALLY tight fit.

What ended up working for me was pushing the socket onto the CopyNES board, then fitting that onto the NES board, then soldering it down.

Well that IS how your supposed to do it iirc.
