Hey folks. I thought I'd ask on this. I have two different plugins.
One is simply called "Winamp2 SPC Player" with the file in_spc.dll. It produces decent sound output.
The other is "Alpha II" or something with the file in_snes.dll. It has great sound output, but has a very annoying problem with winamp. It basically makes it so .wav, .ogg, and a few other extensions aren't even recognized as valid files. I can still open them if I use *.*, but that's annoying. It also seems this plugin plays most files initially at a lower volume and the volume increases over 3 seconds (that may just be my head though).
I'm just wondering if there are any other plugins worth looking at.
Best SPC plugin for Winamp?

This is a double-problem combo.
1. Your winamp plugins are feeding winamp with too many extensions to keep track of. It's a known issue.
2. If you want it to sound like the SNES with the Alpha-II plugin, go to it's settings menu, and choose "Like the SNES". This should quickly and easily modify all the settings to their most SNES-friendly levels. in_snes is defacto the best SPC plugin ever. I don't care if it's not perfect, because nobody has ever done better, that I've heard. I'd say 'kudos', but the author of in_snes deserves a non-internet-like, proper "Thank You" from the people who like SPCs.

NSFs I've ripped:

A Searchable list of NSFs from other sites. In Internet Explorer, go to Edit>Find (on This Page)...

But then there's the extra problem for Windows application developers: once you install software to play Super NES music files, you can't use Authenticode as easily to digitally sign programs for distribution. Both Super NES music files and Authenticode certificates have the extension "spc", which is why the icon for Super NES music files looks like some sort of certificate before you install a Super NES music player.
That said, are there any NSF/SPC/etc plug-ins for DirectShow, so that they'll work in Windows Media Player?
