I decided to read in NHL 96 before I desoldered it, and found a neat little message at the start of the ROM file! I fixed up the formatting so its more readable.

I seem to remember that the H2O Tetris games on N64 had
strange messages from MArtist, one of the programmers.

One of the programmers that worked on Uniracers blogs on his C64 page. He stated something to the effect that they really had to push Nintendo to get permission to change the sprite table mid frame. I believe this is on the only commercial SNES game that does this?
Not as cool but..

There were some other *words* in the ISO as well <_<

That sounds like a cool blog, do you have the link?
That is a strange rant... dunno if I would want to work with someone that unbalanced :s
I wonder if scene programmers were in demand, they could make some incredible graphics and sound! Like that new homebrew game posted on this forum, wow! Maybe being part of an underground scene would be a turn off tho
OT:
Download FR-08 from
http://www.theproduct.de/index.html its incredible how they made all that 64k!

Wow all of this is so cool.
Now this is an idea to have if I don't know what to do if I really can't reach exactly the 2^n limit in a ROM I'm releasing.

Cool. Just wondering something :

Did Rare have to push Nintendo to get the permission to do all the tricks they did in Battletoads ? I guess Rare games are the only commercials to use the $2001 blanking feature to write data to PPU during a rendered frame, doing things like changing the palette midframe in W&W games, and for dynamic tiles in pretty much all their games.

Nintendo themselves did that with the status bar in the StarTropics games, AFAIK.
Judging by the crazy things a lot of NES games did, I think Nintendo's only coding policy back then was "as long as it doesn't crash, it's OK."

This kind of stuff in games is pretty cool! There was a code in the Sega Master System version of Monopoly that you could input, and find some stuff that reminds me of this topic. Here's where it was talked about after the initial "coming out" of one of the programmers that posted on SMSPower:

It's mostly C64 stuff though. Back to his roots I guess.
