Star Fox 2
Is there anyone who sells a reproduction of Star Fox 2, using this translation?

Re: Star Fox 2
It's illegal, but somebody might do it.
What I've always wondered is, How was Starfox 2 Leaked anyway?
Oh well.
By the way Jedi QuestMaster,
Have you tried that patch?
In my opinion, I think it's pretty nice. I tried it sometime in 2004.
Probably October 2004 or something. It Might have gone through updates since then however.

Re: Star Fox 2
I've heard that it was either stolen from a gaming convention (like E3), or compiled from the source code found on an old Argonaut Software computer. I'm more inclined to believe the former.ironfist61 wrote:What I've always wondered is, How was Starfox 2 Leaked anyway?

No - I don't want to try out the patch; I want to experience this the way it was meant to be - on the big (if your TV's big) screen!ironfist61 wrote:It's illegal, but somebody might do it.

I was one of the one's interested in the rumors about Nintendo releasing it on the N64 without any upgrades. They probably could have shoved both Star Fox 1 & 2 on there. Players who missed out on much of the 16-bit age (like myself) would've enjoyed playing it on a more powerful console. But I digress.
Still, I think Nintendo should release this thing on the VC - what do they have to lose?
Anyways, thanks everybody.

Without the patch it's filled with broken menus & I think a hex input menu IIRC. It'd be best to patch the rom with both the translation & the...err...patch before programming the ROM...
Code: Select all

loop JMP loop

There are a few test menus that the patch removes and some debug information like a FPS Counter, as well as cheat codes. Also you cannot lose (without a cheat code) by the planet being 100% damaged. The translation fixes all these issues. But it's not like the game was unplayable before the patch. Not by a long shot. It was very enjoyable and the translation polished it and made it shiney.

To get A Snes feel on Wii
If You want to get the classic feel of the Super Famicom and you have a Nintendo Wii here's a guide.
Get an emulator for Wii:
Snes9xGX
Now you want the feel, get a SNES pad.
If Third party would Suffice:

Although I'd suggest a pad called 'Super 16 Bit'
Unfortunately Nintendo stopped selling the Snes pads Awhile back.
Nintendo Store's Message
Now Here's a Tut on how to tear that sucker apart and make it Wii compatible:
Hackaday Link
If you don't link Hackaday:
Direct Link: )
Now with this method you can test your homebrew or whatever.
BTW the Emulator detects it as a GCN Pad. Just config as it a GCN controller as usual.
The Best thing to do would to write it on a cart, But under these conditions a console based emulator is the next best thing. Especially when you use similar controller hardware. You might miss the tangled cord experience though.

Re: To get A Snes feel on Wii
Some of us are still waiting for the real workaround for Nintendo's recent IOS "fixes" to come out.ironfist61 wrote:Get an emulator for Wii:

Is the Classic Controller close enough? Now you want the feel, get a SNES pad.
Or you could play on a PC connected to a newer TV, using Nintendo brand controllers through USB adapters. What if anything would feel wrong with that? The Best thing to do would to write it on a cart, But under these conditions a console based emulator is the next best thing. I always bypass the IOS updates. The most recent IOS I have is that one that "Poisoned" SSBBtepples wrote:Some of us are still waiting for the real workaround for Nintendo's recent IOS "fixes" to come out.
I suppose it's close, but close mostly counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.tepples wrote:Is the Classic Controller close enough?
