SN1 exact same as SNROM? And another PCB question.

Post by nintendo2600 »

Hey,

Is the Virgin clone board SN1 the exact same as SNROM? I'm wondering as I took the board out of a copy of overlord to make a FF2j cart and all I'm getting is a flat black screen and I've made many FF2j carts so I was thinking maybe there is some small difference that is making it not work perhaps?

Another question, does the "Mortal Kombat III" rom (It's MK1 but you can play as goro and Tsung also) work normally on a MMC3 board? I've got it running but with messed up sprites. Not sure if it was the rom or if my CHR chip was bad. I'm running it on a board without RAM also, does this game need the RAM?

Thanks.

I don't have the PCB, but seeing the info on Kevtris page it seems like a clone to SNROM. Very likely the ROM pinouts are 27Cxxx compatible and not the Nintendo funky pinout. If you have done rewiring that may have broken the thing.
Useless, lumbering half-wits don't scare us.

Sweet, looks like I'll just remove the wire job and try that! Thanks!

EDIT: Yep, it's straight up pin for pin compatible with 27 series eproms. Thanks so much!!

Now onto my MK rom issue.
